I am excited to launch my second book, on 30 May 2025. The Story of Rena Stewart is the biography of an amazing centenarian who I think deserves to be considered a woman of note. Rena served at Bletchley Park during WW2 then translated Hitler's will, before embarking on a stellar career at the BBC World Service.
Rena (1923-2023) was an inspiration. As a young languages graduate from Fife, she volunteered for service in WW2, as she thought she ought to 'do something' about the war. Rena was a hard-working soldier and journalist, but she always made time for fun and culture. Hers was the epitome of a life well lived!
Rena always dreamed of working in the media. At the World Service after the war, she rose from lowly clerk to the first senior woman in the newsroom. Rena was proud to get her dream job. She declared: 'My greatest achievement has been getting people to recognise that a woman can be as good a journalist as a man.'
Rena's biography, published by Pen and Sword History, contains three parts:
The Story of Rena Stewart is available to pre-order now, with a discount, at www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/The-Story-of-Rena-Stewart-Hardback/p/52666.
